Professional sports is, like your standard soap opera, expertly crafted and executed drama.

Those who doubt sports' similarities to soap opera need look no further than Kobe Bryant's last year and a half. Or Ty Willingham getting fired from Notre Dame. Or the Boston Red Sox's championship, far and away the greatest sports drama of the decade. And I haven't even had to mention O.J. once.

Macho men get all huffy when it's suggested their favorite form of entertainment bears similarities to chick entertainment. Men can be such drama queens. Sigh.
