It's commonly accepted that Lethal Injection is the most humane method of execution. The condemned is sedated, sometimes sleeping, and only fuzzes into a coma same as a patient on an operating table. The humanity of the procedure applies to the witnesses as well. One needn't see a unconscious convict gulping convulsively for oxygen in the gas chamber; neither would the sweet smell of cooking flesh induce a growl from the stomach before the brain processes the appropriate queasy response. Sunday Night I went to see Sophie Scholl: The final Days at the Capitol Theater. It's the account, based on unpublished transcripts recently discovered in the former East Germany and recent interviews, of three young members of Die Weiße Rose who were tried and executed in 1943 Munich for distributing pamphlets critical of Adolph Hitler and Deutschland's campaign in Europe.

Breaking his long silence, Scott Stapp claimed that the recent release of a sex tape, in which he appears with Kid Rock and four girls, was an act of sabotage. The 1999 tape has seen the (red) light of day because, according to Stapp, "obviously someone wants to hurt me and doesn't want me to be successful in my solo career!" (Mission accomplished!) Kid Rock, for his part, thinks Stapp is an "idiot" for losing the tape. The two of them seemed so happy together, once.
Stapp spoke for all of us who are mourning the loss of our collective innocence: "You think it's part of your rock 'n' roll memories... I should have burned that tape."
That is an excellent point, Scott. And it reminds us, now would be a good opportunity to talk about something we've been meaning to address for quite some time --
