The story from the Methodists has to deal with material possessions, which I suppose, get in the way of one's relationship with "God". I was thinking more of a demonic type of possession. While the Methodidts may believe that owning something constitutes "possession", That wasn't exactly what I was shooting for.
This site however, lists some qualities of being demon-possessed, among which are:
- : violence - extreme cruelty; e.g. torturers, serial killers and serial arsonists
- : sexual perversion - e.g. homosexuality & unsanctioned sexual activity
- : greed - e.g. intense need for power or money
- : unnatural charisma - e.g. cult leadership
- : addictions - alcohol, drugs, gambling etc
- : supernatural abilities
(Hmm... 6 symptoms....)
Ok.. what is: "unsanctioned sexual activity"? (wikkipedia.org has no info on that. Feel free to create an entry.) Does gayness mean you are demon possessed? Evidently, you cannot be "saved" if you are gay. Or can you?
As far as addictions... I think I might be addicted to air, as well as those others listed. (I think we all should get ourselves a drink at this point.)
Money? I need more, but that's because society demands I have it. How about you?
I'm not violent, except in certain thoughts, But if what Jesus said is true, then your thoughts equal actions, in which case...
Unnatural charisma? I just have an annoying one. (Doesn't this make EVERY televangelist possessed?)
And as far as "supernatural powers" are concerned, Jesus walked on water. Obviously, he was demon possessed.
This simple test can answer if you are demon possessed. But I think the most comprehensive test is here.
Take the quiz, then vote in the poll.
